Step 2: Assessing the Risk

When we assess risk, we're trying to figure out two main things:

1. How badly could someone get hurt? (Severity)
2. What are the chances of that happening? (Likelihood)

A risk matrix is a useful tool for evaluating each of these criteria for a given hazard.
